A couple of blog posts ago I wrote about a warning I had once received to carefully distinguish between fads and fashion versus legitimate innovations and quality tools that stand the test of time. Risk Assessment is certainly not new but it seems to currently be the popular kid in the class. The idea of risk analysis as part of Design and Process FMEAs have been the standard within the Auto Industry for many years. Using the QMS to Manage Supply Chain Commitments

The supply chain manager depends on a presumption of quality from his suppliers. But what can he do to evaluate his suppliers even before he has a track record from working with them? The automotive industry has developed a tool that helps suppliers provide their customers with an assurance of their ability to meet supply chain performance commitments. The tool, with the odd handle of "MMOG/LE", is a standardized self-assessment survey made up of 206 questions that a supplier would complete and provide to a customer. (Right now, Chrysler, Ford, and GM require MMOG/LE from their suppliers.)

LNS Research Attends IBS User Forum

LNS Research principal analyst Matthew Littlefield attended our 2012 User Forum last week along with many of IBS's partners, customers and prospective customers.  Mr. Littlefield recently blogged about how far-reaching quality has become in the organization - a concept that becomes manifest in.  In particular, he notes how the EQMS from IBS extends beyond quality process management, with a wide range of functions including production quality functions like SPC, unlike many QMS vendors.
